Lewis Hamilton is relieved that the Formula 1 season has come to an end. The seven-time world champion, who finished in eighth place in Abu Dhabi, is ready for the winter break after a disappointing debut season in Ferrari red. Hamilton has already promised his Italian team that he will be hard to reach during this winter break: ‘My phone is going in the bin.’

Lewis Hamilton has concluded a Formula 1 season without a single trip to the podium for the first time. The Brit did not secure a podium finish in any Grand Prix race during his debut season for Ferrari. The seven-time world champion only crossed the finish line first during the sprint race in China. Therefore, Hamilton is relieved to put 2025 behind him.

Phone in the Bin

“At this moment, I’m just looking forward to the break. To completely disconnect, not talk to anyone,” the driver candidly tells the press in Abu Dhabi. “No one will be able to reach me this winter. I’m not taking my phone with me. I’m looking forward to that. To completely disconnect from the circus.” Hamilton was then asked if he had done this during previous winter breaks. “Not really. I usually have my phone with me, but this time it’s going in the bin.”

The driver also hopes to pause his obligations outside of Formula 1. “I can’t wait to get away from here. Photoshoots every week and things like that. That’s what I’m looking forward to, not having to do that one day,” Hamilton seems to quash any rumors of retirement.
