Following the F1 75 event in London, Ferrari decided to host its own celebration in Milan. On Thursday, the entire team traveled to the historic Piazza Castello for a special fan day with the tifosi. Naturally, drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton were also in attendance. The latter expressed great confidence in the brand-new driver duo.
The fan event in Milan was filled with PR talks, autograph signings, and selfie-taking, before the entire Scuderia flies to Australia for the season opener in Melbourne. The SF-25, the latest speed machine from Maranello, was also briefly showcased for the home crowd. However, the highlight of the day was the appearance of drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. After a promising winter test, it remains to be seen whether this pair will clinch a title this year for the Italian fans.
‘Strongest Driver Duo Ever’
Lewis Hamilton certainly does not lack self-confidence. In pursuit of his coveted eighth title, the British star is convinced that he and teammate Charles Leclerc will form a formidable team. On the stage in Milan, he was eager to instill a bit of fear in the competition. “We are probably the strongest driver duo in history,” Hamilton is quoted by Autosport.com.
Opinions are divided on social media. Many fans are enthusiastic about Hamilton’s statements, though many also mention iconic duos from the past. The combination of Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost at McLaren is frequently mentioned, as is Juan Manuel Fangio and Stirling Moss, who raced for Mercedes in the late ’50s. Interestingly, the pairing of Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso is also often mentioned. Both drivers raced for McLaren in 2007. Whether Hamilton is right about the Ferrari driver duo, we will see soon. The first race of the new season begins on March 16.
