After a challenging weekend in Singapore, Lewis Hamilton wants to emphasize that Ferrari is indeed making progress. The seven-time world champion had a view of fifth place under the artificial lights, but ended up in a disappointing eighth position, partly due to brake problems and a time penalty. In an extensive post on social media, Hamilton explains that Ferrari is clearly growing behind the scenes.

In the closing stages of the Singapore GP, Hamilton was eyeing Kimi Antonelli and P5. However, due to brake problems, he lost a lot of time and had to give up his sixth place to teammate Charles Leclerc. To add insult to injury, the British veteran also received a five-second time penalty, which resulted in him finishing behind Fernando Alonso. This underscores the slump Ferrari is in during the second half of the season. Since the summer break, the team has only scored six more points than Williams – a stark contrast to the ambitions of the Scuderia.

Nevertheless, Hamilton posted a grateful message on his Instagram page after the weekend. The death of his dog Roscoe had already made it an emotionally tough week for the 40-year-old Brit. “After a tough week, it feels good to be home,” Hamilton wrote. “When I came back from Singapore, I had some time to think. The main emotion I feel is gratitude. The support and love I have experienced since Roscoe’s loss are a powerful reminder that, even when things sometimes seem bleak, there is still so much good in the world. You just have to want to see it.”

‘Progress is Not Enough’

So far, 2025 leaves much to be desired for both Alexander Albon and Ferrari. The Scuderia has not yet won a single Grand Prix, and the British star driver is still waiting for his first podium. However, he sees many positive developments behind the scenes. “The headlines tell only one story – a story where we’re not quite getting things right, or where things aren’t going as we want,” he explained. “In recent months, I’ve been focusing on the other side of the story; how this team responds when things go wrong, how we get back up and keep going.”

“Singapore was the perfect example,” said Hamilton. “Our strategy was good, but brake problems threw a spanner in the works just as we were building momentum. Now we’re going back to the factory, learning from this race, and preparing for the next one. I’m really proud of this team and want to help achieve the results that they and the tifosi deserve. I see the progress we’re making and the hard work that goes into every race. But this is Ferrari,” Hamilton emphasized. “Progress alone is not enough. To achieve greatness, we need to keep growing and improving. There’s so much we can achieve together – and if we build on our successes and improve the right things, I believe we’ll get there.”
