Lewis Hamilton was completely drained after the qualifying session in Hungary. The seven-time world champion didn’t make it past Q2, while teammate Charles Leclerc surprisingly clinched the pole position. Hamilton also witnessed the unexpected success of his teammate and concluded: ‘Ferrari needs to change drivers.’
While Charles Leclerc was the only driver faster than the McLarens during a session this weekend, the qualifying for Lewis Hamilton ended after Q2. The British driver will start twelfth in the main race on Sunday, and was quite upset over the radio when he heard this from race engineer Riccardo Adami. “Every time, every time,” the world champion immediately sighed.
‘It’s on me’
Hamilton’s mood did not improve after the session. “It’s on me, every time,” the Ferrari driver told Sky Sports’ cameras. “I’m just useless. The team has no problems, the other car is on pole,” Hamilton referred to teammate Leclerc. “They just need to replace their driver.”
The driver also immediately took the blame on F1TV. “I’m useless, just useless,” Hamilton repeated. “It was just terrible. But it is what it is.” The seven-time world champion still clocked the fourth fastest time in the last free practice in Hungary. Therefore, Hamilton was asked if Ferrari might have made changes to his SF-25 before the qualifying. “Nothing has changed,” is all the Brit said before walking away.
