Lewis Hamilton could be on the verge of making history with Ferrari – but not in the way he had hoped. The seven-time world champion is still waiting for his first podium finish with the Scuderia after seventeen races in 2025. The British veteran did bring some silverware to Maranello last year, but only in sprint races. Hamilton now risks matching an unwanted record set by Kimi Räikkönen.
Since Lewis Hamilton made his debut with Ferrari in March, he has not managed to finish higher than fourth place. As a result, his surprising transfer to the red racing team has not yet lived up to expectations. The former champion, who has stood on the podium 202 times in his illustrious Formula 1 career, is at risk of completing a season without any podium finishes for the first time.
It has been a long time since a Ferrari driver has gone an entire season without tasting champagne. The last time was Kimi Räikkönen, who did not finish higher than fourth place in 2014. In 2011, Felipe Massa also failed to reach the podium. He finished fifth a number of times, but did not manage to improve on that.
The question now arises whether Hamilton will match this unwanted record. His SF-25 is less competitive compared to McLaren and Red Bull, but a top-three finish is not impossible. The current Formula 1 season has already produced a number of surprising podiums; Nico Hülkenberg finally won a prize at Silverstone, but Kimi Antonelli, Isack Hadjar, and Carlos Sainz have also claimed a podium finish. Moreover, Leclerc, Hamilton’s new teammate, has already stood on the podium five times in 2025.
