Lewis Hamilton qualified third for the Mexican Grand Prix, starting from the second row behind Lando Norris and teammate Charles Leclerc. For the seven-time world champion, the session felt like a confirmation that Ferrari is slowly but surely heading in the right direction.

“It’s an honor to be here with Lando and Charles,” Hamilton said afterwards. “These guys have been so fast all year. It feels great that we’re together in the top three for the first time in a qualifying session. The team really deserves this. They’ve kept pushing and haven’t given up. It’s not that our car has gotten much better, but our process has improved this weekend.”

According to Hamilton, the speed of the Ferrari didn’t suddenly increase, but everything fell into place this weekend. “It’s going to be tough to beat these two guys (Norris and Leclerc),” he admitted. “But starting here at P3 is actually the best spot on this circuit, so I hope to get as much as possible out of the start. Our race speed isn’t bad, so we’ll see.”
