Lewis Hamilton has completed his first weekend in Monza as a Ferrari driver. The seven-time world champion was impressed by the support from the tifosi in Monza. “It’s unbelievable to experience this – it’s truly surreal,” said the Brit.

“It’s everything you hope for,” Hamilton shared after the race. “It’s unbelievable to experience this – it’s everything I could have ever imagined. Of course, I want to fight at the front for the tifosi, but I don’t think there was more in it today. Perhaps we could have finished fifth if we had managed to undercut Mercedes, but we just missed the right moment.”

The Brit spoke particularly about the support he felt from the tifosi this weekend. “Everywhere you look, it’s Ferrari. Look at the straight stretch by the pit lane, they’re as far as you can see. It’s a dream to be able to drive for this team, and I will continue to work tirelessly to stand at the very top of that podium one day.”

So far, Lewis Hamilton has not yet achieved a podium finish as a Ferrari driver. In modern Formula 1, there are only two drivers who have failed to score a podium in a single season for the Italian team: Felipe Massa in 2011 and Kimi Räikkönen. If Hamilton wants to avoid joining this list, he will need to secure at least one more podium finish before the end of the season.
