Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris have expressed their disapproval of the ongoing booing directed at Max Verstappen. Even after his victory in Spain, the jeering continued, a trend that has been observed over the past few years. “Max is doing a fantastic job, you can’t blame him for winning,” Hamilton stated.

Every once in a while, the topic of booing resurfaces. The question then becomes whether attention counteracts the problem or whether it rewards disrespectful behavior. It’s commendable that drivers are speaking out against it. Hamilton and Norris did so on Sunday after the Grand Prix in Spain, Barcelona.

Although Verstappen doesn’t let it get to him, Hamilton offered him support during the press conference. “There are always many spectators for Max, he’s doing an amazing job. He delivers every weekend.” Hamilton is not a fan of the booing directed at Verstappen due to his success. “You can’t blame him for that.”

Norris shares the same sentiment, also standing up for his colleague. “Max deserves respect and appreciation. And anyone who knows our sport, truly appreciates him and his achievements. I’m sure of that. But there are also people who know less about our sport and perhaps therefore do not appreciate what he achieves and what he has to do for it.”

However, this does not justify the booing, according to Norris. On the contrary. “Booing is never a good thing, it unfortunately happens in all kinds of sports. It shouldn’t happen and it’s not fair.”
