The producer of the trophies for the Dutch Grand Prix has confirmed that Isack Hadjar will be sent a new one. The Racing Bulls rookie finished on the podium for the first time during the past race weekend in Zandvoort, receiving his first Formula 1 trophy. However, his trophy broke in half amidst the celebrations in the pit lane. A replacement is currently being made.

Hadjar and the Racing Bulls crew proudly posed with the trophy on Sunday before the young Parisian was treated to a champagne shower. His trophy, made of Delft pottery and hand-painted, broke in two during the celebration. This did little to dampen the festive mood, although the Dutch artwork would undoubtedly look less impressive in the trophy cabinet in Faenza. Fortunately, the maker, Royal Delft, has confirmed that Hadjar will receive a new trophy.

‘Exceptional Accident’

“Together with the GP of the Netherlands, we naturally want the person who finished in third place to receive the prize he deserves,” a spokesperson for Royal Delft told PlanetF1. “We don’t know exactly when we will deliver it, but we are working hard on it.” The Dutch company expressed surprise that their creation did not survive the festivities. “It’s an unfortunate set of circumstances,” said the spokesperson. “In this case, the trophy was probably placed on an uneven surface. This can lead to uneven pressure distribution and stress points in the middle or on thinner parts, causing the material to crack and break.”

“It’s important to emphasize that the trophies have stood on the podium for three years in a row without incidents, which really makes this an exceptional accident.” Royal Delft finally confirmed that Racing Bulls may keep the broken cup: “The shattered trophy stays with Lando Norris. It’s a memento of a legendary moment for him.”
