On Sunday, during the Italian Grand Prix, Isack Hadjar put on an impressive comeback race. Despite the fact that the Racing Bulls driver had to start from the pit lane due to an engine change, the Frenchman managed to secure the final World Championship point with his tenth place finish in Monza.
“I’m very happy, this is the best result I could have achieved,” Hadjar told F1TV. “I already knew we would be fast, because I saw how much potential there was in the car.”
Although the Racing Bull driver stood on the podium after the Dutch GP in Zandvoort last week, his first podium in Formula 1, Hadjar remains realistic about expectations for the rest of the season.
“A podium is not the norm for us,” said the rookie, referring to the Dutch GP. Hadjar has long been considered for promotion to Red Bull as a replacement for Yuki Tsunoda after this season. The Japanese driver finished thirteenth in Monza on Sunday.
