Smiling faces, an embrace here and there. A little further on, heartfelt congratulations, sometimes accompanied by a firm handshake, sometimes by a kiss on the cheek. Regardless, the atmosphere is good. And yes, everyone has their own concerns and problems, but many neighbours are eager to admire the new premises. The neighbours on either side are the first to arrive, naturally: they have a lot of frequent contact, living next to each other. And of course, there’s always that one neighbour you don’t see at these kinds of events, who prefers to keep to themselves. Another might simply be unable to attend due to work commitments. That’s just how it goes, in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
And those neighbours right at the front, with the most beautiful and largest spot? Yes, they remain friendly despite their new abode. Last year they had a fire, and all the other neighbours helped out. Heartwarming. The greeting is therefore quite cordial.
What a celebration here in Montmeló, Spain. The champagne is ready, not from some mediocre supermarket around the corner; no, these are quality bubbles. Not that you can see it from the outside, as the nearly tinted windows offer little insight into this new residence in the paddock.
Because that’s the street where Haas F1 is hosting a ‘housewarming’ on this Thursday evening in honour of their new, super luxurious yet cosy motorhome. Or hospitality unit, if you prefer. And those neighbours? Indeed, Williams and Sauber on either side. McLaren with the new abode at the start of the street, Red Bull that’s busy, and Ferrari that’s missing. But eventually, someone from all the neighbours takes a peek.
Yes, dear people, the Formula 1 paddock is sometimes just like a real street. And admit it, peeping at the neighbours is quite fun. Cheers!
