Guenther Steiner is making his entrance into MotoGP. The former Haas team boss is taking over the Red Bull KTM Tech3 MotoGP team as the leader of a consortium. The deal was officially confirmed during a press conference on Friday, ahead of the MotoGP Grand Prix of Catalonia. Alongside team boss Hervé Poncharal, Steiner outlined the future plans for the French team.

Guenther Steiner has decided to make the switch to MotoGP and is taking over the Red Bull KTM Tech3 MotoGP Team. The former Haas team boss speaks of a fantastic opportunity and wants to build on the foundation laid by Tech3 team boss Hervé Poncharal.

“Tech3 has enormous potential and an impressive legacy,” says Steiner. “We are honored to continue the work and elevate both the team and the sport to a higher level. We are motivated to be part of the MotoGP paddock and to get the most out of the team and the sport. MotoGP continues to grow, and we want to help bring it to the attention of a new audience.”

A New Era

With the takeover, a new chapter seems to be dawning for Tech3, which has been active in MotoGP since 2001. There have been rumors about a takeover of the team for some time. With Steiner’s arrival, the future of the team seems assured, amid questions about KTM’s long-term involvement with the satellite team.

“This is the end of an era. At the same time, it is also the beginning of an exciting new chapter for all of us,” says team boss Poncharal. “Tech3 is in good hands to continue growing in this new MotoGP era.” The team has ongoing contracts with the factory team KTM. Riders Maverick Viñales and Enea Bastianini are meanwhile secured until the end of next season – the last year before the start of the new 850cc era.”
