Lewis Hamilton, known to date as a major collector of exclusive cars, claims to have found a new hobby. The seven-time world champion was often spotted in the world’s most impressive supercars in the past, but these days, he is more interested in collecting art. According to Hamilton, modern cars have become too similar to each other.

Ferraris, McLarens, Paganis, and recently the ultra-exclusive Mercedes-AMG ONE – they can all be found in Lewis Hamilton’s impressive fleet. Since his debut in Formula 1 in 2007, the British star has invested a significant amount of money in the most expensive cars available. Reportedly, Hamilton has purchased tens of millions worth of exclusive transportation, but nowadays, he is less interested in the world of ultra-fast cars.

‘Discovering More and More Artists’

An interview with the German Auto, Motor und Sport revealed that the current range of supercars no longer appeals to him. “The last car I bought was the AMG ONE,” Hamilton said. “That will be my last for now.” Presumably, the 39-year-old driver received a bit of a staff discount on this racing beast from the Mercedes model range. The ‘average man’ quickly pays 2.7 million euros for the AMG ONE, but in return gets a Formula 1-like car with over a thousand horsepower.

Lewis Hamilton revealed that he now prefers to invest his exorbitant salary in art. “I’m discovering more and more artists, especially great black artists,” he said about his new passion. Supercars will always fascinate him, but this hobby doesn’t feel the same as it used to. “Of course, I still like looking at cars,” he concluded. “But most new models look a bit the same. Something is missing for me. I prefer old classics, also because of the sound and emotion they emit,” concluded the Brit.
