In 2022, Sebastian Vettel bid farewell to Formula 1 and motorsport, yet he continues to enjoy immense popularity. Now that Max Verstappen has won four consecutive titles with Red Bull, comparisons are often drawn with the German star, who achieved the same feat between 2010 and 2013. However, Vettel is currently occupied with entirely different pursuits, as he recently revealed in an interview.

Austrian outlet OE24 spoke with Sebastian Vettel during an awards ceremony in Braunschweig, Germany. It was a rare opportunity to hear what the 37-year-old former driver is up to in his daily life. Since retiring from Formula 1, Vettel has chosen a life away from the limelight. When asked, the four-time world champion revealed that he is primarily delving into agriculture.

From Formula 1 Car to Tractor

“I am taking a short course in agriculture,” said Vettel. “If I pass, I will be qualified to run a farm.” The German lives with his family on a farm in Switzerland, so it’s not surprising that he wants to retrain in this field. However, it will be a bit of an adjustment, driving a tractor instead of a Formula 1 car. Moreover, Oscar Piastri recently demonstrated that operating farm machinery can be quite complex.

The question remains whether Sebastian Vettel has definitively retired from racing. A collaboration with Porsche for Le Mans still seems to be a possibility. Urs Kuratle, factory director of Porsche LMDH, admitted earlier this month that there is mutual interest. In March, Vettel was spotted at the headquarters of Porsche Penske Motorsport. There, he had a seat fitted and spent several hours in the simulator. Shortly thereafter, he actually got behind the wheel of the Porsche 963 for an intensive test at MotorLand Aragón in Spain.
