Beekeeping? Pottery? It might come as a surprise, but some Formula 1 drivers have quite unique hobbies off the track. Hobbies that you might not typically associate with an F1 driver… Is it to balance the adrenaline rush of racing? Or is it a way to recharge for top speeds? Here is our top 7 list of the most notable hobbies of F1 drivers. Buckle up!

1. Lewis Hamilton: Art Collector

Hamilton is well-known for his collection of supercars, but his interest has recently shifted to a more refined corner: the art world. According to Hamilton, modern cars are becoming increasingly similar, and art provides him with the unique emotion he seeks. In terms of price tag, Hamilton’s new hobby certainly keeps him in the same league!

2. Valtteri Bottas: Coffee Roaster

Temperature, duration, cooling: every step counts when it comes to coffee roasting. And that happens to be Valtteri Bottas’ hobby. He can become as engrossed in it during his free time as his team in the pit lane. Everything has to be perfect. Does he also enjoy a strong cup before the race?

3. Kimi Räikkönen: The Snowmobile Daredevil

‘Iceman’ Kimi Räikkönen doesn’t just race cars, he also participates in snowmobile competitions – albeit under a different name. In the snowy regions of Finland and Lapland, he embraces the cold to ride a snowmobile. Under the pseudonym ‘James Hunt’, he has even won a race.

4. Daniel Ricciardo: The Cowboy

Daniel Ricciardo lives like a modern cowboy on his farm in Australia, where he enjoys taming and caring for horses. On the farm, he swaps the horsepower of his F1 car for real horses. A peaceful contrast to his 1000 horsepower life!

5. Sebastian Vettel: Hero in a Beekeeper’s Apron

Can you picture Sebastian Vettel in a beekeeper’s apron? It’s a sight that occurs regularly, as the four-time world champion has a passion for beekeeping. This hobby stemmed from his commitment to sustainability and environmental protection. Quite a contrast to his life full of speed and adrenaline!

6. Romain Grosjean: The Potter

In the category of ‘most creative’, Romain Grosjean could well take the pole position. After his Formula 1 career, he discovered pottery as a new passion. That’s certainly a different way to make an entrance at a birthday party.

7. David Coulthard: Fossil Enthusiast

A fossil might seem like the polar opposite of a roaring F1 engine. However, it’s something that David Coulthard greatly enjoys, as he collects dinosaur fossils. Perhaps the connection lies in the immense power of, say, a T-Rex?
