Despite recent rumors suggesting that Formula 1 had reached an agreement with Chicago, it turns out there will not be a fourth race in the United States. News broke on Monday that Chicago would appear on the calendar from 2026, but this report has since been refuted. For now, there will only be three Grands Prix in the US.
Unfounded Reports of a Chicago Grand Prix
The X-account FastestPitstop reported on Monday that a contract had been signed between Formula 1 and Chicago. However, multiple sources confirm that there is no evidence of such an agreement. The FastestPitstop posts have since been removed. While Chicago has become part of the motorsport world through a street race in the NASCAR championship, hosting its own Grand Prix seems to be a step too far for now.
Initial Rumors and Current US Grands Prix
The first rumors emerged earlier this year when Formula 1 applied for a patent for the Grand Prix of Chicago name. However, this is not proof that a race will ever come to The Windy City – the brand name for the Grand Prix of New York has also been owned by Formula 1 since 2020. For now, the American audience will have to make do with the current three Grands Prix – Miami, Austin, and Las Vegas.
