Less than two weeks after his departure from Sauber, former CEO and ‘interim’ Alessandro Alunni Bravi has already found a new job. The Italian is set to become the new Chief Business Affairs Officer at McLaren, starting from February 1st with the British team.

The role of Chief Business Affairs Officer has been specifically created for Alunni Bravi. The Italian will use his experience as a team boss for “a range of McLaren Racing’s business affairs, including legal matters, driver development, commercial affairs, driver contract management, and the management of rights holders and governing bodies.”

The McLaren Driver Development program will also fall under the responsibility of Alunni Bravi. In this role, he replaces Stephanie Carlin, who has been placed elsewhere. Alunni Bravi was previously the director and team representative of the Swiss Sauber, a role he held temporarily. Jonathan Wheathley, who came from Red Bull, along with former Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto, will take over Alunni Bravi’s duties at Sauber.

A Lifelong Fan

“I am very pleased that Alessandro is joining us with his extensive expertise and motorsport background,” says McLaren CEO Zak Brown in the official press release. Alunni Bravi himself can’t wait to start working with the British team.

“McLaren is a team I’ve been a big fan of my whole life, and it therefore evokes special personal emotions to get the chance to work with such a great group of people now,” the Italian shares. “I am so grateful to be able to work with such a wonderful organization, whose values and culture are so clearly visible from the outside.”
