Former Haas team boss, Günther Steiner, reveals who among the two team principals was the most ‘irritating’ during their team’s dominance: Toto Wolff or Christian Horner. According to the ex-team boss, who now serves as an analyst, one of the two team principals brought “too much drama”.

In 2022 and 2023, Red Bull enjoyed unprecedented dominance, securing multiple world titles for both driver Max Verstappen and the team itself. The Austrian racing team thereby dethroned Mercedes. The German team had been constructors’ champions eight times in a row since 2014.

Too Much Drama

The success of both racing teams affected the two team principals, Toto Wolff and Christian Horner, but according to former team boss Günther Steiner, Horner was particularly ‘irritating’ during his team’s heyday. “Who was more annoying at the top? I would say Christian, because he came with too much drama,” Steiner shares in the Red Flags podcast. “There was never really drama with Toto. It was just ‘we win because we are the best’, you know.”

Red Bull’s supremacy ended sooner than Mercedes’ dominance. The Austrian racing team hit a slump during the current season and saw McLaren overtake them in the constructors’ championship. The British team currently has a lead of 41 points over Red Bull.
