Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur reveals that a disagreement with Adrian Newey, who recently left Red Bull, prevented a potential collaboration. Vasseur shared this insight during an interview with L’Equipe.
In his quest to bolster Ferrari’s technical team, Vasseur quickly turned to Newey last spring. At that time, it had just been announced that the British designer would be leaving Red Bull. However, instead of moving to Ferrari, Newey was snapped up by Aston Martin. According to the BBC, this deal will be announced on Tuesday.
So, where did the negotiations between Vasseur and Newey go wrong? “His ideas differed from mine regarding his role,” says the Frenchman. “We did have discussions. And perhaps we will agree someday. But: an individual cannot determine the outcome of an entire team. The collective is always stronger than the individual.”
