Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc Carries Olympic Torch Through Monaco Ahead of Paris Summer Games

On Tuesday, the Principality of Monaco was abuzz with the spirit of the Olympic Games. As the Summer Olympics in Paris approach, the Olympic torch is making its way through France, including a visit to the microstate. Charles Leclerc, the Ferrari driver, had the honor of acting as a torchbearer, carrying the Olympic flame through the streets of his homeland.

Charles Leclerc was one of the chosen Monegasques to carry the Olympic torch through the city. The ceremonial procession arrived in Monte Carlo on Tuesday afternoon. Alongside him, other top athletes from the principality were selected for this Olympic tradition. Skier Alexandra Coletti, table tennis player Xiaoxin Yang, and bobsledder Rudy Rinaldi were in attendance. Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene also played a role.

After the ceremony, the Ferrari driver spoke to Olympics.com. “I feel very honored to have been chosen to carry the Olympic torch,” said Leclerc. “The value of sport and the Olympic Games are very important to me.” The thirty-third edition of the tournament will officially open in the French capital on July 26.
