Ferrari team principal Frédéric Vasseur is pleased with Ferrari’s progress during the recent Grands Prix in Bahrain and Jeddah. However, the Scuderia is not yet where it wants to be, and is therefore preparing well for the upcoming Miami GP. This is particularly important as the race weekend in the American city is the second sprint weekend of the year.
Charles Leclerc secured the first podium finish of the season for the Scuderia in Jeddah, while Lewis Hamilton crossed the finish line in seventh place. The Ferrari team is therefore on the upswing, and is now preparing for the next showdown in Miami. “After spending a few days in Maranello analysing the data we collected during the first triple-header of the season, we are ready to hit the track again in Miami,” team principal Vasseur looks ahead to the American race weekend.Ferrari’s preparation in Maranello is far from superfluous. The Miami GP is the second sprint weekend of the year, which means there will only be one free practice session this coming weekend. “This means that the work on the simulator and in the preparatory briefings is even more important than usual,” Vasseur continues. “We want to continue improving the performance of the SF-25, encouraged by the good progress during the races in Bahrain and Jeddah.”
A Glimmer of Hope for Hamilton?
Lewis Hamilton was down in the dumps after the Saudi Arabian GP. “I was fighting the car in every corner and nothing I did worked,” said a disappointed world champion. However, teammate Charles Leclerc sees a glimmer of hope for Hamilton, as the two drivers have a similar driving style.
“It always helps the team a bit if we’re pushing in the same direction (of the car’s development), because we need the same things from a car,” said the Monegasque. “With Lewis, I was very surprised at how we approached the corners in the same way when turning in. When Lewis came, I didn’t expect that. We’re both quite aggressive when turning into corners, which means we’re definitely asking the same things from the car.”
