Following disappointing results at the Singapore Grand Prix, Ferrari is sounding the alarm. Drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton finished in sixth and eighth place respectively, earning only a few World Championship points for the Scuderia. Leclerc admitted after the race that a podium finish is currently out of reach. Reportedly, Ferrari’s top brass will meet this week to discuss how to get the team back on track.
Ferrari and its fans had high expectations for this Formula 1 season. After a strong second half of the 2024 season, the team – with Lewis Hamilton on board – hoped to finally be able to compete for world titles. However, even with the seven-time world champion, the Scuderia could rarely stand up to the other top teams. It now fears for its third place in the constructors’ championship. Midfield team Williams – which has scored only six points less than Ferrari since the summer break – is breathing down its neck.
According to the Italian branch of Sky Sports, a ‘serious’ and ‘pragmatic’ meeting will take place within Ferrari’s top ranks this week. Chairman John Elkann and CEO Benedetto Vigna are expected in Maranello for an emergency meeting. Reportedly, Ferrari is determined to find out how the team can weather these ‘darkest days’ in Formula 1 – and come out stronger. Lewis Hamilton posted an optimistic message on social media on Monday, emphasizing that Ferrari is making significant progress behind the scenes.
