Ferrari is undergoing a significant organizational shakeup. The Italian team announced on Thursday that former Mercedes engineer Loïc Serra will take over as the new Technical Director of the chassis from October 1st. The Scuderia had already revealed in May that Serra, along with colleague Jerome d’Ambrosio, would be joining Ferrari.

Serra, a French national, has been with Mercedes since the beginning of their foray into Formula 1. However, after more than a decade of loyal service, he decided to embark on a new adventure with Ferrari. The Scuderia has now confirmed Serra’s new role. “Scuderia Ferrari HP announces that it has entrusted the role of Technical Director of the chassis to Loïc Serra,” the Italian team stated in an official press release.

“As previously announced, the French engineer, born in 1972, will join the team on October 1st,” the statement continues. “In this new role, Loïc will report directly to team boss Fred Vasseur.” Ferrari has yet to reveal the exact duties of Serra’s colleague D’Ambrosio.

Responsibilities

In his new role as Technical Director, the French engineer will also be responsible for several departments of the Maranello-based team. “Serra will therefore be responsible for the following departments: Chassis Project Engineering, led by Fabio Montecchi; Vehicle Performance, led by Marco Adurno; Aerodynamics, led by Diego Tondi; Track Engineering, led by Matteo Togninalli and Chassis Operations, led by Diego Ioverno, who will also remain Sporting Director,” concludes the racing team.
