The Haas Formula 1 team was at the Silverstone circuit on Monday for a few test laps with the VF-25, the car for the upcoming season. Driver Esteban Ocon had the honor of making his first meters in this new Haas car. However, the test did not go entirely smoothly, as evidenced by photos circulating on social media.
Under the guise of a filming day, Haas driver Ocon got to familiarize himself with his new car on Monday. The VF-25, sporting a red-white-black color scheme, was unleashed on the Silverstone circuit. The French driver’s first test meters were not without problems. Detailed photos reveal that the VF-25 suffered damage during the trial day.
Damaged Sidepod
Images clearly show that the right sidepod of the car is damaged. The bodywork appears to be partially detached, although the exact cause of this is still unclear. Reportedly, the problem was quickly fixed; in the pit lane, the Haas mechanics attached a new panel, allowing Ocon to continue his test program without further hindrance. As Haas has not provided any explanation about this first shakedown, it remains unclear exactly what happened.
On Tuesday, fans will have the opportunity to admire the VF-25 during the F1 75 event in London. During this spectacular show, all teams will simultaneously unveil the liveries for the new Formula 1 season. Esteban Ocon and teammate Oliver Bearman will also be present, before they travel on to Bahrain on Tuesday evening. A second shakedown will take place there later this week, where Bearman will step into the VF-25 for the first time.
