Who is the best driver on the current Formula 1 grid? Former team boss Eddie Jordan is certain that this honor belongs to Max Verstappen. According to the ex-team boss of Jordan Grand Prix, Verstappen is the reason why the RB20 didn’t look so bad earlier in the season.
Jordan, the former team boss of Jordan Grand Prix, was at the helm of the team when Michael Schumacher made his Formula 1 debut as a Jordan driver in 1991. The Irishman, therefore, knows what makes a driver good, and who among the drivers on the current grid is the best of the entire field.
“We were all criticizing Pérez, but maybe it’s Pérez with that car. That’s just the speed of the car and what Max does, is what only Max can do,” begins Jordan in his praise of Verstappen, in the Formula For Success podcast.
Without a Doubt
The Irishman has no doubt about who among the current twenty drivers on the grid he would label as the best of all. “(Verstappen) is without any doubt the best driver in Formula 1, in my opinion, at this moment,” says Jordan.
According to the former team boss, it’s probably hard for Verstappen because he’s not always competing for podium places anymore. “To finish as fifth and fourth and sixth or whatever, it must be really tough for him at this stage.”
