The Dutch Grand Prix organization is in dispute with Formula 1 ticket provider, Platinium Group. The foreign ticket seller was supposed to sell 35,000 tickets to international fans for the Zandvoort race, but has failed to do so. According to AD, the Dutch race organization is considering legal action.

As reported by AD, Platinium paid thirty million for the rights to sell 35,000 tickets to fans outside the Netherlands for the upcoming two editions of the Dutch GP. Most of these tickets are available from 300 euros. Sales are lagging, partly because the Dutch Grand Prix is less popular among foreign fans.

Platinium is therefore struggling to sell enough tickets. The Dutch Grand Prix organization now wants to claim 3.8 million euros through the court, a quarter of the total amount of fifteen million. The Dutch Grand Prix organization, through lawyer Merel Franke, says they would prefer to avoid a lawsuit. “It’s a contractual dispute with the other party. We still hope to resolve it, so that a lawsuit is not necessary.”

Exclusivity Agreements

Platinium Group, on the other hand, claims that the Dutch Grand Prix organization has violated exclusivity agreements. For instance, Verstappen.com is also actively selling tickets to foreign fans. According to Platinium, the agreement was that the company of the three-time world champion would not do this.
