Daniel Ricciardo remains tight-lipped about his future in Formula 1. Despite maintaining close contact with Red Bull team boss Chrisitan Horner and advisor Helmut Marko, Ricciardo’s current focus is primarily on Visa Cash App RB.
Ricciardo is one of the remaining drivers who is uncertain about his position in Formula 1 next year. With the ongoing slump in form of Sergio Pérez, the Australian is also being linked with his former employer. However, Ricciardo continues to refrain from making any definitive statements about a potential return to Red Bull.
“So predictable,” Ricciardo jokes when asked about his Formula 1 future during a press conference in Belgium. “I still don’t know. As always, I keep focusing on myself. Things change so quickly in this sport. So, I focus on myself and see where I end up. I’m not changing my approach, and I want to go into the summer break with good momentum.”
Continued Close Contact with Red Bull
Ricciardo admits to still being in touch with the key figures within Red Bull. “I still often speak with Christian (Horner) and Helmut (Marko). Not really with other parts of the Red Bull team. I prefer to focus on my own team and engineers now. Last year, I was much more a part of Red Bull, and I attended the driver meetings. However, Helmut still lets me know when my results are not good.”
The Australian had a difficult start to the 2024 season, and only scored points in a main race for the first time in Canada. Ricciardo feels that he is now doing better than a few months ago. “I am certainly much happier with the position I am in now than during the first races of the season,” says the man from Perth. “It all didn’t go so well during the first few races. Now I can get much more out of myself. Things are moving in the right direction, and I feel much more comfortable. There are also more signs of the speed that I know I have,” says the Australian.
