Daniel Ricciardo, the eight-time Grand Prix winner, was treated in an Australian hospital for minor injuries following a motocross accident. The incident occurred in the state of Queensland, reportedly resulting in a minor collarbone injury. After his forced departure from Racing Bulls, Ricciardo has stepped away from Formula 1 and, despite his enduring popularity among fans, has kept a low profile.
According to PlanetF1, the Australian was riding through Daintree, the world’s oldest tropical rainforest, when the accident happened. Ricciardo was then treated at Mossman Hospital, approximately fifty kilometers away. Reportedly, he was in good spirits afterwards. Further details about the incident are still missing. Recently, the 36-year-old Ricciardo gave an insightful glimpse into his life during the Ray White Connect conference in Queensland. He claims to be living ‘a quieter existence’ now that his Formula 1 career is over.
‘More silence around me’
“Well, I haven’t shaved my face,” he began, referring to his lush beard and long curls. “The beard is now my comfort,” he added with a laugh. “This year, I’ve done a lot of self-reflection. I’ve led this crazy, fast life for a very long time; this year, it was time for a bit more silence around me.” Literally, as the Australian explained: “I’ve had a lot of time to hike. A few weeks ago, I was in Alaska. I wasn’t attacked by a grizzly bear, so that’s a bonus,” he joked.
“I’ve tried to figure out who I am, separate from the whole racing driver image,” Ricciardo continued seriously. “I’ve started to appreciate the little things more and have rediscovered the meaning of friends and family – I’ve always been driven, and that sometimes leads to selfishness. That’s why I’m trying to learn to be a bit more selfless and to listen better,” he concluded.
