As Formula 1 enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the race weekend in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia is engrossed in the construction of a new spectacle. The Arabs’ next colossal project is the entertainment metropolis, Qiddiya. In an unparalleled gaming city, a new Formula 1 circuit is being erected. The initial atmospheric impressions were shared on Tuesday.

The wow-factor is held in high esteem in Qiddiya. From sports arenas to amusement parks, nothing is too extravagant in a place entirely dedicated to games and entertainment. The Formula 1 circuit is set to become the absolute highlight of the project in Saudi Arabia.

There will be a roller coaster alongside the straight sections of the circuit where fans can “ride along” with the drivers. Additionally, there is the Blade bend, a hairpin that extends over a twenty-story building. Lastly, guests can admire the F1 race in Qiddiya underwater, thanks to a glass swimming pool high above the asphalt.

Renowned circuit designer Herman Tilke and former Formula 1 driver Alex Wurz are responsible for the design of the track. Reportedly, it will be located near the seven-kilometer-long Spa-Francorchamps and will have a height difference of 108 meters with 21 bends.

Fans will have to exercise patience before the first race in Qiddiya takes place. Only in 2027 will the F1 circus be relocated to the gaming city, before the final touches are added to the mega project in 2030.
