The saga surrounding former Red Bull team boss Christian Horner appears to finally be coming to an end. After the 51-year-old Brit and Max Verstappen‘s team officially severed ties in September, the lawsuit between Horner and a former employee has reportedly been settled. The woman in question had threatened to take legal action again in 2026, after previously accusing the team boss of inappropriate behavior. A multi-million settlement is said to have been reached.
The affair surrounding Horner began in February 2024, when he was accused of sexual misconduct by an employee. Two internal investigations cleared the then team boss and CEO, but notably, the woman herself was suspended and later even dismissed. She did not accept this and took her case to the British employment tribunal this year. A hearing was already scheduled for January 2026. In the United Kingdom, the English media is no longer allowed to report on the case due to a so-called Reporting Restriction Order.
Multi-Million Settlement
According to De Telegraaf, however, there will be no lawsuit as both parties have reached a settlement. This also means that sensitive details – such as phone conversations between Horner and the former employee – will not be discussed. Screenshots of the alleged contact between the two were widely circulated in the paddock last year. The exact amount of the settlement is unknown, but insiders suggest it is in the millions.
The woman in question now works at Cadillac, but has also incurred substantial costs in the lengthy legal battle. For Horner, the settlement means that the chapter is closed. He is now working hard on a comeback in Formula 1. The Brit, who won eight driver titles and six constructor championships at Red Bull, has already been linked to Aston Martin, Alpine, and Haas. According to Aston Martin team boss Andy Cowell, he has ‘spoken to all team owners’.
