Could we soon see Christian Horner donning Ferrari red? After previously being linked to roles within the Haas, Aston Martin, and Alpine teams, the Brit is now reportedly a serious candidate to succeed current Ferrari team boss Frédéric Vasseur. Ferrari chairman John Elkann is said to be keen on bringing the team boss, who was dismissed in July, to Italy.
Christian Horner is on the hunt for a job. The Brit was dismissed as team boss at Red Bull in July and has since been linked to Haas and Aston Martin, among others. According to Aston Martin team boss Andy Cowell, it doesn’t stop there for Horner, as the Brit has ‘virtually every team owner on the line’. The top teams are also reportedly interested in collaborating with the former Red Bull team boss.
According to the usually well-informed F1-Insider, Ferrari chairman John Elkann is seriously considering replacing current team boss Frédéric Vasseur with Horner. The Frenchman started working at Scuderia in early 2023 and signed a contract extension with the Italian team last July.
‘Ferrari Needs Horner’
Former driver Johnny Herbert believes that Ferrari could really use Horner. “Ferrari has all the ingredients, but they can’t bring them together,” Herbert tells BettingLounge. “They have the drivers and hardly make any major strategic mistakes anymore. They just lack pure speed. For that, you ultimately need a real leader – someone who knows how to create a winning culture. And that’s Christian Horner.” Ferrari is currently third in the constructors’ championship, behind McLaren and Mercedes, and is the only top team still waiting for a Grand Prix victory in 2025.
