Charles Leclerc has shared his mixed feelings about the Singapore Grand Prix. The Ferrari driver started from P9 and ultimately achieved P5. Leclerc reflects on both the positive and negative aspects of the weekend.
A Strong Race
Leclerc considers his race a good performance, despite the frustrations at the beginning. “We delivered a very good performance. I don’t think we could have gotten more out of it,” says Leclerc. After a difficult start, the Monegasque could do nothing more than wait. “When Fernando went in for a pit stop, I could step on the gas. We had a good speed and a strong second stint, which allowed us to come back to P5. I’m really happy with that.”
A Disappointing Qualification
Yet, Leclerc also experienced disappointment over the weekend as a whole. “I was very frustrated by the tires during the qualification,” reflects Leclerc. “In the end, I’m the one who has to take most of the blame because I made mistakes like blocking and exceeding track limits.” Leclerc emphasizes that qualification is crucial, especially on a circuit like Singapore. “It happens that you make mistakes and drive a bad lap, but here in Singapore, you pay the highest price for it.” He acknowledges that the lack of a good lap in Q3 had an impact on his race.
“If I consider the weekend as a whole, I am responsible for a mediocre result.” Despite the disappointment, Leclerc remains positive. “If I only look at the race, I think we did a really good job.”
