Racing in the Spanish capital! Carlos Sainz had the honor of being the first driver to take to the streets of Madrid last weekend. During the MADRING Showrun demonstration, the Spaniard treated fans to stunts such as donuts, while he got to explore the Madring, the street circuit where next year’s Spanish Grand Prix will take place.
Carlos Sainz drove a Williams car as part of the MADRING Showrun on the asphalt where all Formula 1 drivers will be allowed to race during next year’s Spanish GP. The street circuit in the Spanish capital, also known as the Madring, will replace Barcelona as the host of the Grand Prix. However, Barcelona will still be on the calendar next season.
‘A Grand Year for Madrid’
Sainz can’t wait to race a Grand Prix in the city where he grew up. “It’s a dream come true for me to be back in Madrid and drive the FW45 around the streets where I grew up,” the Spaniard told the media present. “I will never forget what it was like to drive this car in front of a crowd of 80,000 people from all over the world. It was a super emotional day, but it’s just a taste of what’s to come in 2026. Next year will be a grand year for Madrid as it becomes part of F1 and I can’t wait!”
