Carlos Sainz is on the brink of his final triple header as a Ferrari driver. However, his impending departure from the Italian team does not change his approach. Sainz even hopes to give Ferrari one last gift before he moves to Williams.
The Grand Prix weekend in Las Vegas marks the start of Carlos Sainz’s final three races as a Ferrari driver. The Spaniard will have to make way for Lewis Hamilton at Scuderia next year and will himself move to Williams.
Sainz is primarily hoping for a better weekend in the gambling city than last year, when he suffered damage to his Ferrari vehicle in the first free practice due to a loose manhole cover. “I am certain that since this is the second year, these kinds of things will not happen again and we can focus on the work we need to do,” the Spanish driver tells the media present in Las Vegas.
Sainz has been driving in Ferrari red since 2021, but that will come to an end after the upcoming Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi. According to the driver, however, the impending farewell does not change his plan of action. “I remain a Ferrari driver until the very last turn of the last race of the season,” says the Madrid native.
Last Gift
The driver also hopes to give one last gift to his team. “When I think about it, I can’t actually imagine a better gift for the team than winning the constructors’ championship. Together with Charles (Leclerc), I will do everything I can to achieve this goal. Of course, we are not the favorites, but we are in good shape at the moment and we have the right calmness to take on this challenge,” concludes Sainz.
