The transfer market is quiet, all rumors about Max Verstappen aside. Only the future Cadillac team, which has not yet tied any drivers to itself, is still causing some stir. Several experienced Formula 1 drivers are vying for a spot with the American outfit, including Sergio Pérez and Valtteri Bottas. According to Cadillac team boss Graeme Lowdon, Mick Schumacher, who has already tested with the team, is also a serious option.

“The situation is quite favorable for us at the moment,” Lowdon told the German branch of Sky Sports. “There are many good drivers available – a mix of experienced drivers and young talents from Formula 2. I think there will be movement in the market soon.” About Mick Schumacher, one of the contenders for a seat at Cadillac, Lowdon is notably positive. “Mick is great,” the Englishman responded. “He’s a very nice guy, and I like him. I’ve gotten to know him a bit better.”

‘A lot to be said for Schumacher’

“He is still young, but he already has some Formula 1 experience,” Lowdon emphasized as one of Schumacher’s plus points. “Of course, that was a while ago, but he has stayed well informed. Moreover, he has already done tests with us and shows great interest in the project. We appreciate that a lot,” he added. “So he is not unknown to the team – he knows where we stand. There’s a lot to be said for Schumacher.”

However, Lowdon does not want to give any guarantees. “He is clearly one of the drivers on our list,” he said. “But that list is quite long.” In addition to Schumacher, Formula 1 veterans like Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Pérez are also linked to Cadillac. “Hopefully the fans will forgive us for focusing mainly on the car right now. Because without a car, there are no drivers.” As for the overall progress at Cadillac, Lowdon is satisfied. “The situation is quite favorable at the moment,” he concluded. “Two-thirds of the team is already on board and the car’s development is on schedule.”
