Just a little longer and the much-anticipated F1: The Movie will finally hit the cinemas. After the film premiered in New York last week, the European premiere took place in London on Monday evening. Naturally, lead actor Brad Pitt and the film’s producer Lewis Hamilton were present. The American actor revealed the extent of Hamilton’s influence on the creation of the film. ‘We literally could not have made the film without him,’ Pitt said.
A European premiere for the long-awaited F1: The Movie was inevitable, following the spectacle in New York a week earlier. The lead actors and several prominent figures from the F1 world, including top designer Adrian Newey and Williams team boss James Vowles, came to London especially for the grand event at Leicester Square on Monday evening. Producer Lewis Hamilton was, of course, also in attendance and received high praise from lead actor Brad Pitt.
“We literally could not have made the movie without him,” the actor tells Sky Sports F1 in London. “When Joe (Kosinski, director of the movie) had the idea, we knew we needed some kind of elder statesman of the sport to help us. To introduce us to the world of F1.” However, Hamilton’s involvement was not limited to just an introduction. “He also played such an important role in writing the script,” Pitt reveals further.
‘Great Guy’
Hamilton’s participation in the F1 film project meant that Pitt had the opportunity to work closely with the seven-time world champion for a long time. How was that for the American actor? “He’s a great guy,” Pitt continues. “He’s truly a gentleman, so respectful. Lewis also has a real love for the arts, so he was very curious about how we made the movie.” For Hamilton, the film certainly whets his appetite for more, the driver previously revealed that there are several film projects in the pipeline from his hand.
