What was supposed to be a dream weekend for Gabriel Bortoleto quickly turned into a nightmare. After a collision with Lance Stroll at turn 11, Bico do Pato, the Brazilian had to retire his Sauber early.
After the heavy crash in the sprint race on Saturday – where Bortoleto ended up hard in the tire barrier in the final lap – there was hope for revenge among the home crowd. However, that hope was quickly dashed. In lap 1, things went wrong: Stroll pushed Bortoleto onto the grass. The young Brazilian lost control, spun, and ultimately had to abandon his damaged vehicle.
