Mohammed Ben Sulayem has officially been re-elected as FIA President, as announced by the governing body on Friday. The Emirati is thus embarking on his second four-year term as the head of the FIA. The elections took place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where the FIA also organized its annual awards gala on Friday evening.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem was first elected as FIA President in 2021. During his first term, the Emirati frequently faced harsh criticism of his leadership style and accusations, but stated that he let all of this slide off him. In the official press release, Ben Sulayem is primarily praised for achieving the ‘strongest financial result’ for the FIA in nearly ten years, and the reorganization of the governing body.

Ben Sulayem is pleased with his re-election. “I want to thank all FIA members for their massive participation in the vote and for the trust they have placed in me again,” said the FIA President. “We have overcome many obstacles, but today we stand here together stronger than ever. It is truly an honor to be FIA President and I am committed to continuing to perform for the FIA, for motorsport, for mobility, and for our clubs in all regions around the world.”
