According to Oliver Bearman, the recent progress of Haas is largely due to the upgrades to the VF-25. Since the US Grand Prix – when the team brought the upgrade – they have been fighting for points in the midfield and are battling for sixth place in the constructors’ championship. The Brit also emphasizes that his adjusted personal routine has been helping him since the summer break during the past race weekends.
The American Haas team introduced an upgrade package during the Austin Grand Prix, which had an immediate effect. The package included a modified floor, renewed rear corners, and new inlets at the side pods. Since then, Haas has scored 24 valuable points, putting the team just two points behind Aston Martin and twelve points behind Racing Bulls in the battle for sixth place in the constructors’ championship.
“The success is certainly due to the upgrade,” says Bearman, looking ahead to the Las Vegas Grand Prix. “I’m really proud of the team for what they’ve done. It was a risky move to bring upgrades so late in the season, but it has earned us points, and that was the goal.” Although the improvements were not spectacular, the 20-year-old Brit emphasizes that even small steps can make a big difference in such a tight field: “It’s not a revolutionary upgrade, but it doesn’t have to be to still achieve revolutionary results.”
Bearman Refines Approach
In addition to the technical progress, Bearman has also sharpened his personal routine. Since the summer break, he has adopted a more structured approach during race weekends, balancing technical preparation and mental focus better. “Before the summer break, I was constantly working on driving and tuning the car,” he explains. “Now I make sure I stop that work half an hour before a session and focus entirely on my mental preparation. I have found this to be very useful. The car has improved, and I now understand how it behaves at the limit. This allows me not only to drive more consistently with the car, but also to improve my approach throughout the weekend.”
