From Wednesday, February 26 to Friday, February 28, the Formula 1 teams will gather in Bahrain for the traditional testing days. This is the first time the new cars will be truly put to the test on the track. Although the desert climate is usually reliable, this time it promises to be slightly different than expected.

Cooler than usual

Typically, you can expect temperatures around 24 degrees in Bahrain in February, good weather for the drivers and teams. However, this year it will be somewhat cooler during the testing days. On Wednesday and Thursday, temperatures will hover around 16 to 17 degrees, with Friday being the warmest day at a modest 19 degrees.

Wind

The biggest point of attention during these testing days? The wind. Throughout all three days, there will be a strong northwesterly wind, with speeds between 30 and 50 km/h. This is not only inconvenient for the drivers, who need to pay extra attention to the stability of their cars, but it can also affect the aerodynamics and balance of the vehicles. In addition, there is a chance that desert sand will be blown onto the circuit, potentially causing a loss of grip on certain parts of the track.

Chance of rain

Rain in Bahrain is rare, but it is certainly not ruled out. The forecasts indicate that there is a small chance of light precipitation on Thursday. Large amounts are not expected, so the impact on the testing days will likely remain minimal.
