Today marks 31 years since Ayrton Senna tragically died on the Imola circuit.

‘No one can separate me from the love of God’

Every year, fans from far and wide come to commemorate Ayrton Senna at his gravestone. This photo was taken during the memorial on May 1, 2019, 25 years after the great hero died at Imola. His grave is constantly surrounded by fresh flowers, a testament to his enduring memory in the hearts of many.

Matching Senna’s Record

Here, Lewis Hamilton received an original helmet of Senna after qualifying for the GP of Canada in 2017. There, the seven-time world champion matched Ayrton Senna: both drivers had secured 65 F1 pole positions in their careers. He received this helmet from the family of the Brazilian driver, as a memento.

Memorial Site at Imola

This bronze statue, a tribute to Ayrton Senna, stands on the Imola circuit. Thousands of visitors pass by here each year during the Emilia-Romagna GP, paying their respects in their own way to the Brazilian hero. Some do this by leaving and/or hanging photos, jerseys, and flowers. Various items have been there for years, perhaps even for thirty years.

Ayrton Senna Institute

The Ayrton Senna Institute was founded by Viviane Senna, the sister of the three-time world champion. The organization was a dream of the Brazilian to provide educational support to underdeveloped areas in Brazil. For thirty years, this non-profit organization has been assisting various regions in Brazil. In this photo, Viviane is seen with Prince Harry (at the time), who paid a visit to the organization in São Paulo.

SENNA, the Series in 2024

This time, it’s not a photo but a video highlighting his legacy. Even thirty years later, the memory of Ayrton Senna is very much alive. This year, a series about the Brazilian F1 driver will be released on Netflix. Here is the first trailer of the series, which covers his life before the tragic accident.
