Aston Martin has brought on board a new technical force in the form of Enrico Cardile, and his message is clear: the ultimate goal is nothing less than victory. After leaving Ferrari, he is looking forward to 2026 and the new era of Aston Martin in Formula 1. In an interview with Aston Martin, Cardile shares his vision and determination to take the team to the top of the premier class.

Enrico Cardile began in July as technical director at Aston Martin, after a legal procedure with Ferrari had delayed his start with the British team. Since 2016, he had been active as technical director at Scuderia. The Italian is enthusiastic about his first impressions at the British racing stable: “It’s incredibly exciting, vibrant, and anything but repetitive,” he says. “I love nothing more than this work and feel privileged to be paid for it. It’s my passion.” Cardile is not worried about whether Aston Martin will be successful, but when: “Whether it’s at the first race, the second, seventh, or later – I don’t know. What we do have is determination, focus, and confidence. We have everything in place to achieve something great. Failure is not an option.”

Cardile describes his role as that of someone who safeguards the vision of the organization and makes the right decisions at the right time. “My job is to ask the right questions, understand the answers, and then make the right choices.” According to him, the emphasis is on the end goal. “What ultimately counts is winning. It’s not about whether we’re right at the beginning, but whether we’re at the top in the end.”

New Era

With a clear plan and vision – aligned with team boss Andy Cowell, technical advisor Adrian Newey, and team owner Lawrence Stroll – Cardile wants to make progress step by step. The collaboration with engine partner Honda also makes Aston Martin a full-fledged factory team. Cardile is certainly confident in his new working environment: “We are in full development, but we are clearly moving in the right direction.”
