Arvid Lindblad is eagerly anticipating his Formula 1 debut in 2026. The British-Swedish driver, just 18 years old, is moving up from Red Bull’s training program and will secure a permanent seat next to Liam Lawson at Racing Bulls. Lindblad – currently competing in Formula 2 – will be the twentieth driver from Red Bull’s academy to make the leap to the premier class. He is keen to seize this opportunity with both hands.
It had been speculated for some time that Arvid Lindblad would be promoted. The Red Bull team management had nothing but praise for the young talent, who looks back on a fluctuating but promising Formula 2 season. He achieved two victories and made it to the podium two more times, firmly establishing himself in the top six of the championship. For Lindblad, promotion to Formula 1 is a dream come true. He inherits the seat from Isack Hadjar, who will get his chance next to Max Verstappen next year.
‘Much to Learn’
“I want to thank everyone at Racing Bulls for this opportunity,” Arvid Lindblad responded via the team’s channels. “When I started this journey at the age of five, my goal was always to race in Formula 1, so I am incredibly proud to be taking this step.” The young driver emphasized how important the talent program has been for his development. “I am immensely grateful to the Red Bull Junior Program and my personal team for their guidance, mentorship, and trust; none of this would have been possible without their support.”
Arvid Lindblad realizes that 2026 will not be an easy year, especially as Formula 1 enters a completely new era with new technical regulations. However, the excitement predominates. “2026 will be a big challenge and I know there is much to learn,” he continued. “But I am ready to work closely with the team and take on this challenge.” He is not short on ambition: “I can’t wait to get started,” he concluded. “It’s going to be an exciting year!”
