Andrea Kimi Antonelli has the dubious honor of causing the first red flag of the Dutch GP weekend. The Mercedes driver went off the track during the first free practice at turn nine, ending up stuck in the gravel. The session was subsequently halted, but has since resumed.
“I was stuck in the gravel,” Andrea Kimi Antonelli immediately tells his engineer Peter ‘Bono’ Bonnington over the team radio. “We see it,” the Brit confirms. The Italian rookie had to end the first free practice early. The Mercedes driver is not the only one who found himself off the track during the first hour on the Zandvoort dunes circuit. Yuki Tsunoda also went off the track, at turns eleven and twelve, but was able to return to the asphalt on his own.
