Despite securing an impressive second-place start position, Andrea Kimi Antonelli was not entirely satisfied after the qualifying round for the Grand Prix of São Paulo. The young Mercedes driver had to once again concede to Lando Norris, who claimed the pole position. The Italian hopes to clinch his first Formula 1 victory from P2 tomorrow.
“To be honest, I’m quite irritated that I’m behind him (Norris) again,” Antonelli said afterwards. “We were also so close to each other in the sprint race this morning. It was a challenging session due to the wind, making it difficult to drive a perfect lap. But I’m glad that I was able to put down a strong lap in my last run.” The young Italian is looking forward to the race with optimism: “I’m starting from P2 tomorrow. McLaren is, of course, very fast, so it’s important to have a good start and immediately find a strong pace.”
