Alpine has made a striking change for the last three races of 2024: the A524 of Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly will appear entirely in pink. The team, which has been collaborating with title sponsor BWT for some time, has used this color scheme before, but has now chosen to temporarily completely replace the iconic Alpine blue. The new look will be deployed during the triple-header in Las Vegas, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi.
Change of Color, Same Fighting Spirit
The French team is battling in the final phase of the season for the sixth spot in the constructors’ championship. A position that is worth millions of dollars and can be crucial for the team’s future. However, the year started far from flawlessly for Alpine. With a car that was too heavy and a lack of downforce, it was difficult to keep up with the top teams.
Alpine managed to recover with an impressive performance in Brazil. On the wet Interlagos circuit, Ocon and Gasly drove to a surprising second and third place, earning the team a whopping 33 points. This has catapulted Alpine from ninth to sixth place in one fell swoop. Now, the challenge is to keep competitors Haas and Visa RB behind them.
A Crucial Moment for Alpine
Team boss Oliver Oakes spoke proudly of his team’s performance after the race in Brazil. “This result is a reward for hard work. The season started tough, but the strides we’re making now give us confidence for the future,” Oakes emphasized. He stressed that the improvements in Brazil were crucial. “After a difficult start, we saw progress in Austin and Mexico, but in Brazil, we really took a big step forward.”
Millions at Stake
The fight for the sixth spot is not just about prestige, but also about the prize money. With approximately ten million dollars per position, a good result can give the team a significant financial boost. The leap to P6 has already earned the Alpine team an extra thirty million dollars. With just three races left in the pink livery, it will be exciting to see if Alpine can hold onto the sixth position.
