Fernando Alonso believes Formula 1 is on the brink of ‘three or four’ thrilling months ahead! The brand-new regulations for the premier class leave plenty of uncertainty about how the 2026 season will unfold, but the Spaniard is feeling optimistic for his team, Aston Martin: ‘We have Honda, Aramco, and Adrian Newey.’
Alonso wrapped up the 2025 season just barely making it into the top ten of the drivers’ championship. However, he hasn’t hidden the fact that his team, Aston Martin, shifted its focus to 2026 early on. With new regulations on the horizon, Alonso sees a real opportunity for multiple teams to rise to the top next season.
“We shifted our focus back in April,” Alonso revealed to several media outlets. Aston Martin essentially sacrificed the 2025 season. “I’m optimistic because it’s a kind of reset. Everyone now has the chance to do better than the others.” But it’s not just the regulations that are changing for the British team in 2026. “We now have our new facilities and our own wind tunnel,” Alonso continued. “We’re starting completely fresh, so that always brings hope.”
Honda Partners with Aston Martin: Newey and Aramco Join Forces!
Aston Martin is revving up for an exclusive partnership with engine supplier Honda! “We have Honda as our engine supplier, and that’s just for us. Plus, we’ve got Aramco and Adrian Newey on board. There are plenty of good reasons to be optimistic, but this is a highly competitive sport, and everyone is doing really well,” Fernando Alonso cautions. “So we’ll see.”
The Spanish driver is gearing up for an exhilarating start to the Formula 1 season. “I think a lot will happen in the first three or four months of the year as you discover the cars and see which direction and philosophy everyone has chosen. You learn a lot in the first two or three races,” he adds, hinting at the thrilling battles ahead!
