Fernando Alonso expressed sharp criticism following the chaotic opening phase of the Mexico Grand Prix. The Spaniard had a good start, but quickly lost positions when several drivers cut across the grass in the first turn, gaining places. According to Alonso, it was an unequal situation, with some incidents left unaddressed by the FIA, resulting in unnecessary disadvantages for him and other drivers.

“We managed to gain a few positions, we were aggressive in turn one and everything seemed to be going well,” Alonso said after the race. “But I think a few cars just went straight on in turns two and three and then came back in front of me. That feels a bit unfair.” According to Alonso, this is not the first time the FIA has failed to intervene in incidents in the opening phase. “For the second time in a row, the FIA turns a blind eye in the first round, at turn one. Lesson learned, I guess.”

Alonso’s comments once again highlight drivers’ frustrations over the strict, but sometimes selective application of the rules in the opening stages of races. The Spanish veteran ultimately had to abandon his race in Mexico, but the unjust loss of positions clearly remained palpable.

Small Margins in the Constructors’ Championship

The battle in the constructors’ championship remains fiercely competitive. Aston Martin is fighting for sixth place, while Haas has moved up to P8, just seven points behind the British team, thanks to Bearman’s strong performance. Racing Bulls maintains a small lead of three points at P6, bringing the midfield once again close together. Everything can still change — just like last year, when both Esteban Ocon and another Alpine driver stood on the podium in Brazil and the team climbed from P9 to P6.
