Formula 2 driver Alex Dunne will once again be in action for McLaren during the Italian GP. The Irishman will take the wheel of Lando Norris‘s MCL39 during the first free practice session. Dunne previously made his F1 debut in Austria, where he finished fourth in the first free practice session.

In addition to the free practice session for McLaren, Alex Dunne will also be racing in Formula 2 during the weekend at Monza. The Irishman is currently fifth in the championship of the feeder series, but is certainly not to be ruled out for the title. Only 30 points currently separate the entire top five in the F2 championship.

Monza

Just like last time in Austria, Dunne will take over Lando Norris’s MCL39 in FP1. During his F1 debut at the Red Bull Ring, the reserve driver immediately impressed by finishing just 0.069 seconds behind Oscar Piastri. Dunne is very much looking forward to his second free practice session in Monza. “I’m really excited to be back this weekend for my second FP1 with McLaren in Monza,” says the young driver.

“My first time in Austria was very special, but to do it again in Monza, a circuit that is so historic and prestigious, will put a big smile on my face,” Dunne continues. “So I’m really looking forward to it. Hopefully, I can build on my strong performance in Austria and help Lando and Oscar as much as possible during that weekend.”
