Alex Albon, with his ninth-place finish in Monaco, has finally scored the first points for Williams. After eight races, the British team has finally surpassed the still-pointless Stake F1 Team. Albon, who recently extended his contract for another two years, is relieved to finally move up in the championship. However, the British-Thai driver has identified some areas for improvement for the Grand Prix.

Albon appeared in front of the cameras of Formula1.com after the race. The driver expressed his happiness at finally finishing in the top ten. “It feels fantastic,” he responded, “It was a bit dull. I wouldn’t have minded if we could have raced a bit more, but I’m happy with our first points.” The top ten remained unchanged in Monaco after two hours of racing, much to the boredom of both fans and drivers.

First World Championship Points for Williams

“P9 is very good for us,” Albon said about the first World Championship points for Williams. “We’re finally participating in the standings. Hopefully, this creates some momentum for the upcoming races. Last year, it also took a while before we scored points, but then we suddenly got the rhythm. That should be possible again.”

Need for More Excitement

Albon had to admit that there was little excitement for the spectators. “The pace was really painful,” he confessed, “I saw that Yuki Tsunoda took little risk. That could all be a bit faster – we were lapped after 20 rounds! In my opinion, it didn’t have to go that slow.”
